Mike Griffith, director de publicación de Activision, ha declarado en una rueda de prensa que Guitar Hero IV será lanzado al mercado para la campaña navideña de fin de año, y que estará disponible en PlayStation 3.
Griffith dijo: "daremos un paso adelante en innovación", con lo cual está confirmando los anuncios previos al respecto, para ello pensamos que están pensando incluir más instrumentos, como pueden ser los vocales. Pero Griffith prefirió no confirmar la inclusión de más accesorios.
"Estamos muy emocionados con el aumento en el contenido musical y en las innovaciones que planteamos incluir. Será un verdadero paso adelante y estamos a menos de dos semanas de ofreceros los primeros detalles en profundidad", declaró. Activision estará dando más noticias sobre el lanzamiento, los nuevos instrumentos, accesorios y mayores detalles de Guitar Hero IV en las póximas semanas. Estaremos atentos a nuevos comunicados.

Un rumor que traía una revista de videojuegos, comentaba que en el Rock Band 2 cabía la posibilidad de que le metieras y tocaras cualquier canción, la que quisieras...como si fuera el Frets on Fire (el clon del guitar hero , en pc, gratis y creado por peña. Si tienes la canción en midi la puedes convertir en un tema del juego de forma muy sencilla).
Pero en el Guitar Hero IV dudo que esto se pueda hacer. Otro rumor que corre es que le van a meter más instrumentos para hacerle competencia al Rock Band.
Que conste que estos últimos aportes son rumores y ya se sabe como van
